Hear what our three Clarion Students, who joined the team as Summer Trackers, have to share about interning in the church!

Experience
What was it like for you?
Hwei Shuean:
Working in Corporate Comms in Trinity had always been a dream of mine ever since I heard God’s call for me to go into media after graduating from secondary school. When the opportunity finally came for me to come on board as a summer intern, I was really excited. It was an open door from God to discover more about my calling in Him! During my time at summer track, beyond growing in technical skills, God revealed to me a lot about myself and Himself, and I grew emotionally and spiritually.
Jolie:
It was fulfilling because of the productive use of time, came without expectations, and I had a lot of experience learning in the media and comms side. Saw some application learning from what I learnt in school to what the church does in terms of being an organisation. It was refreshing, learning more about the church and seeing the operational aspect of the church which the congregation do not see. I understood more about why we do certain things and the intentions behind them. Extra time spent with Pastor Melvin Lim and Pastor Wendy Chang gave us tips and showed us more about the church. Overall, it was fun doing what I enjoy, and have wanted to learn/do for quite a while.
Jeanette:
Summer track experience was one of a kind, being able not only to hear and understand what goes on behind the scenes in the church, but also to be the one in action. Never thought I would have an opportunity to work in a church. It was such a fruitful experience, not only learning and working with new technical skills but also growing deeper in God. The experience was fantastic as I was able to be in an environment where it is not as scary to make mistakes, because before this, I was working part-time in a less friendly place.

Takeaway
What did you learn?
Hwei Shuean:
I came into Summer Track with lots of fears and doubts about my abilities. Being in the midst of the discomfort taught me what it meant to fully rely on God. Be it before work, during work, or after work, I had many conversations with God, which helped me to navigate through the doubts and challenges that I faced. It was a cool experience because I discovered what it means to include God at work! I was also blessed to meet a colleague who constantly encouraged me and modelled what it meant to be unafraid of not knowing everything, instead having a posture of wanting to learn. This gave me the confidence and assurance I needed to know that I was not expected to be perfect and that growth is a process.
Jolie:
I learnt how an organisation is run, how different departments rely on each other, and how ideas or thoughts that pastors have are translated and executed. I picked up technical skills and stuff relating to the media/comms industry. On a personal level, I learnt not to take feedback to heart, or to grow overly attached to the work I do. I have a distinct identity from my work projects. I have learnt to adapt fast, have an open attitude for a heart of learning, be unafraid to ask (why do we do certain things, why not, if I can try something, to propose something), be faithful even in the little when I don’t see the impact, but to keep doing it because God calls me to.
Jeanette:
I learnt new technical skills and soft skills like communication and teamwork. I met new people who had a similar background as me. They taught me many life skills, and I received relevant and useful advice from them. God showed me how He is really working in my life and how important it is to trust completely in Him, especially so during times of trouble. My department sought God during those times, and it impacted and inspired me to do the same.

Perspective
How has your view of work changed?
Hwei Shuean:
God used one of the writing assignments that I was working on to surface some of the hurts that I had previously experienced in my life so that He could heal me and enable me to live an abundant life. I was upset because it took a lot of time and effort on just one assignment, and I was not as efficient as I wanted to be. I wrestled with God about it, and He revealed to me that the detour was to show me His pursuit of me. It was then I realised I was valued by God, not because of how well I did my work; He simply loves me as His beloved daughter. This shifted my perspective to see my work not as a means of gaining approval from God, but simply as a fragrant offering that delights His heart.
Jolie:
Work is a calling from God. I am positioned there for His purpose for me, not for self-gain but for the fulfilment of others.
Jeanette:
It is God first. Therefore, to constantly remember my purpose and not focus on achievements only. Also, to be grateful for even the smallest things.

Favorite Memory
Name a favorite memory from Track
Hwei Shuean:
Too many good memories! I enjoyed the time spent with my colleagues because they took the time to speak into my life and helped me along the way! I also enjoyed fulfilling the little work dreams I had, like writing for Trinity, recording voiceovers in the studio and doing live coverage for social media! All in all, I would do it again any day.
Jolie:
EVERY VIDEO SHOOT was a favourite memory. The brainstorming sessions for social media content and execution. Filming the children’s track at Life Conference. Going on stage to film stuff. Solo editing Trinity in Worship videos and seeing how the edits turn out. And of course, eating hotpot in the big room (outside of church)!
Jeanette:
CST LUNCHES and yapping sessions with everyone! I enjoyed packing during the conference, and honestly, just being able to go around in the church to do work. Sticker pasting, honestly, everything was pretty fun!
