Make the most of this rare precious time together as a family while staying in! Here are some ideas of activities.

Fulfilling holiday programs for children

Ages 12 and below

Wondering what to do with your children for the sudden school holidays whilst working from home? Fret not! Our Children's Ministry for children ages 4-12 years old DiscoveryLand has a special May school holiday program that challenges our children to develop habits in a biblical and fun way. There's a new mission for the kids each week, and daily activities within the weekdays that will occupy them from half an hour to 2 hours. What happens on the weekend then? There are weekend services online for them! We've got them covered! Click on the image or the link above to access this program.

Ages 13-20

Online group games. Remote cookout contests. Fitness sessions. And of course devotions, worship and prayer. No such thing as boredom for our IGNYTErs and friends (youth aged 13-20) this Circuit Breaker holidays! Know a youth? Invite him/her to join! Oh, and this episode of the cookout is so hilarious, it's worth a watch, youth or not!

Family holidays at home

This holidays, make it a special family vacation without stepping out of the house. You can even travel round the world in less than 80 days!

Wildlife Safari LIVE

Rudyard Kipling's Jungle Book is great, and BBC wildlife documentaries are awesome. But nothing beats being on a safari live. Now you can admire God's creation live on two safari drives daily in the wilderness of South Africa, within three award-winning nature reserves, free. These drives are guided by expert naturalists, and viewers can even send in their questions to be answered live. The guides have been following the pride of lions and the leopards in these reserves for years. But the safari is live, so sightings are not guaranteed. But you can certainly ask of the Creator and enjoy the show. Each safari lasts three hours. The sunrise safari is at 12pm (SGT) and the sunset safari at 9.30pm. Click here to access.

Virtual Tours

Planned on going to Europe but had to cancel? Now you can visit the Lourve, Vatican museum and Buckingham Palace without leaving your home.

Farming as a family

Jesus often used farming metaphors in His teachings to identify with his agrarian audience. Why not give some farming a go and see what spiritual truths God will reveal through the experience. Before the end of the school holidays, you will be able to harvest these greens. These are easy enough for the younger ones to join in too!

Microgreens

Microgreens are more nutritious than their full-grown counterparts, and only take 2-3 days to germinate and 7-14 days to harvest.

You'll need

  • A shallow tray (can even be a recycled takeaway box)

  • Soil

  • Microgreen seeds

Steps

  • Cover the tray with an inch of moistened soil.

  • Scatter the seed evenly across the soil and press gently into the soil.

  • Top up with a bit more soil and cover with a clear lid or plastic wrap until the microgreens have sprouted.

  • Once sprouted, remove the cover and mist it twice a day.

  • Microgreens will need 4 hours of direct sunlight.

Bean Sprouts

You can't go wrong with growing bean sprouts. They are nutritious and super easy to grow. You can grow them out of any container - a used milk carton, empty plastic bottle, kettle, jar, ...

You'll need

  • Mung beans (enough to cover the bottom of the container)

  • Empty container

  • Piece of gauze

Steps

  • Soak the beans for 6 hours, then pour the water out and gauze the opening of the container.

  • Place the container away from the sunlight.

  • Leave overnight and water them and drain the water again the next day.

  • Repeat the watering and draining for 5-6 days.

  • Harvest on day 6 or 7!

Focusing on God

If there's one thing you absolutely have to do during Circuit Breaker, it's re-focusing on God. Afterall, God is family too! And this is the best time to deepen your relationship with Him as a family.

You can

  • set up a 30-day prayer challenge. Come together as a family to pray. Join us at 1900 hrs each evening for COVID-1900 synchronized prayer and add on your own family prayer time!

  • take up a bible reading plan. What better way to grow closer together than to share TAWG reflections with one another? Check out what others are reading here.

  • set up your family altar. How? Read about it here.

  • attend our Broadcast Life Conference together.
